I love the fact that all dogs are genetically related. The fact that a Giant Dane shares so much DNA with a Chihuahua blows my mind. And it also would appear that all dogs can share that green-eyed monster known as jealousy. And in this instance the size of the dog is immaterial. This Great Dane’s mummy who is obviously the centre of his universe enters the room carrying a little puppy. And the big guy is not happy at all.
Scared that he is going to be forgotten and wanting some of that precious attention, he rises up onto his two back legs, physically towering over the woman. There is no aggression or anger, don’t get me wrong, all he wants is to get stroked and shown some love, and to remind his mummy that he still exists. It is a lovely moment but also a reminder that it doesn’t matter what size you are, everybody loves a little care and attention.
