Amazing Neapolitan Mastiff Was About To Be Thrown Out Onto The Streets When Facebook Saved Him

When I first saw this video, I was both angry and upset. As a dog lover, the way the breeder in this story behaved was to me at least, indefensible. But I know that in the world of dogs, some breeders don’t let emotions get in the way, it’s all about profit, it’s all a business and feelings and emotions simply have no place. For me that is both disgusting and a disgrace.

Willow was born as one of six puppies. ‎The Neapolitan mastiff puppy was bred by the breeder to make him money pure and simple. Five of the six puppies were good, healthy strong puppies but poor Willow was diagnosed with “swimmers disease”. This disease causes their chest to stay flat and that in turn forces organs to be displaced and grow where they shouldn’t. Whilst swimmers disease can be rectified, it is neither a cheap nor easy exercise. The breeder saw Willow as a burden and was going to turn him loose on the streets. His one saving grace before he did that terrible act was to post on Facebook what he planned to do. That’s when Jennifer Williams of 2nd Chance Rescue became involved and stepped in. They drove miles and miles to collect Willow who now 8 months later is a healthy happy puppy. I want you to watch this video for a number of reasons, but most importantly to not give up on a dog and to see what love and affection can do. If you are going to breed dogs, then you have to be prepared to accept a few things going wrong, but simply abandoning a poor dog is a disgrace and shouldn’t be allowed. That’s no way of showing people what a dog lover you are, in fact, I would say it’s quite the opposite.
